On Saturday Gill and I went to a bbq in Haberfield, a suburb that's only a five minute bus ride away, at the house of Meg's best friend, to celebrate the completion of their renovations (including a swimming pool). Given how hot it was, the swimming pool was just about the best place to be, although with 16 children (that I counted) it wasn't exactly relaxing. The temperature at 2.30pm was 36.8 degrees, and very humid. Even Ethan wanted a cold beer...
"Bite me and I'll bash you"
"No no, I didn't mean to be nasty!"
"That's better"
Bryce isn't quite sure what to make of his first ice-block
Pete and Paddy in the pool
"Oi, Ethan, put the plastic wrapper down and pay attention...."
"First, I just need to get some water"
"I anoint you Ethan of the Yellow Floaty Thing"
"Yeah whatever Bryce, just give me the toy"
"Yeah whatever Bryce, just give me the toy"
"That's my beer!"

Gill finds a new friend
In the evening Gill and I headed in to nearby Leichhardt for a beer; we were sitting by the window in a pub when a car stopped at the traffic lights outside and starting honking its horn - it was Dylan (Gill's cousin) and his girlfriend Mel; through sign language and before the lights changed we manage to establish that he was playing a gig nearby, so after a pizza with Anna (Dylan's sister) and her fiance Matt, we went to a small and sweaty venue for the rest of the evening to see Dylan play.
