So I spent today in the Mitchell Library Reading Room of the State Library, which is such a lovely place to work... like the State Reference Library in the same building it's a reference Library (Australiana rather than general works); when I requested a book today that couldn't be located, they will get it shipped in to the Library from Canberra and let me know when it's available - all for free. My current essay is on how Australian and allied preconceptions about Japan affected the way they conducted the Pacific War; so it seemed only right to have sushi for dinner this evening.

My shipment of stuff is due in a few weeks... it's on the Grasmere Maersk (right) which I can track online via some sort of GPS thing, which, if not exciting, is a good distraction if I'm bored... currently its off the north west coast of Western Australia; although my stuff is probably at the bottom of the sea somewhere near Portsmouth.

  1. Libraries are all well and good, but I'm still waiting for the photo of you with a koala! x

  2. You may be waiting a while... no koalas down here (except in the zoo)... need to go up north for those. They're moody and vicious little buggers anyway....

  3. Don't ruin my image of them! They're not vicious at all... they're all cuddly and cute and friendly.
