Librophilia
I'm on my mid-semester break this week - which means there's only 6 weeks to go of my uni courses - so rather than work from home or go to uni I took the ferry in to Circular Quay and worked at the NSW State Library instead, of which I am now a member. It has two major library rooms with other several additional work areas - all airy, bright and peaceful - perfect for working. I know it is only a library, and I realise that I shouldn't be getting that excited about it and nobody is at all interested anyway, but I think it's very impressive. It's in a grand Victorian building between Hyde Park Barracks and the Botanical Gardens right in the city. It's very modern inside, really well equipped and, as you might expect, there are one hell of a lot of books - which like the Bodleian can be ordered up from the stacks. Best of all, it's completely free for residents. You thought I'd be going to the beach, diving with kangaroos and bushwalking with sharks, but no; it's all about libraries.
