The Bay Run 2009

So this morning I did the Bay Run, along with a few other Sydneysiders who are happy to get up at stupid o'clock on a Sunday morning in winter. It was a sunny but chilly start to the day (for a change) when it started at 8am; but perfect for running. It was tempting to berate the locals for whinging about how cold it was. I managed to do the 7ks in around 28 minutes - coming 91st out of a field of around 1500 (37th in the 30-39 male category), which I'm fairly happy with, but I think the distance is a bit too short for me - it's a virtual sprint - and I didn't feel I had quite enough time to enjoy it (or perhaps I'm just too competitive). Anyway, having been very healthy in going to bed early on Saturday and running this morning, it seemed only right to go for a long brunch at a cafe on Darling St up in Balmain.

Kit cooked shepherd's pie for lunch (he had a colleague and his wife round to join us), and I spent the rest of the day writing my essay on the conflict between the Europeans and the Tasmanian Aborigines.

  1. Well I missed dinner actually, having had both brunch and lunch... To be honest I forgot. But I am currently eating breakfast - porridge, dash of cinnamon, soya milk, water, sultanas and honey.

  2. Next weekend I think you should go somewhere where you can have your photo taken with a marsupial. I think this blog has been sadly lacking in pictures of koalas and the like!

P.S. Reading about your run made me feel so guilty. I really need to get more exercise... x

  3. Ok Vix, that seems fair enough, though I think having my photo taken with a camera will be more successful. Whatever I end up doing I will ensure there is photographic evidence. You need more exercise? Why don't you join Paul in the gym? An 'official' photo of me finishing the run will appear on here shortly... x
