Summertime in Sydney and Pregnancy Update

The return to school and the last trimester of Gill's pregnancy hasn't meant the end of summer outings (although admittedly it has been somewhat curtailed); here's a snapshot of life in the last four weeks.

We've been on a few leisurely walks; one around Balmain, taking in Mort Bay and Ballast Point Park, and the other around the lower North Shore.

The walk from McMahon's Point around to Wollstonencraft (lower North Shore)....

On a warm sunny afternoon with Gill's parents we went for a picnic and a spot of fishing at Narrabeen Lakes, on the Northern Beaches. We didn't catch anything, but at least I got to try out some of my (early) birthday presents. Wayne figured that from early April a beach rod wasn't going to see a great deal of action, so....

Sporting a bait belt and workman's shorts: arguably, I couldn't look more ridiculous

We've had some disagreements with the local cockatoos about the purpose of our balcony. They seem to think it's a fast food joint - if it's made of timber, it's tasty.

Last weekend was the start of the new Super Rugby season - with the Waratahs, the 2014 champions, playing at home against the Western Force (Perth). Courtesy of Gill's cousin Amy, we were lucky enough to score a whole heap of Members tickets. In what was a dour game in which there were more cobwebs that the opening scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Waratahs lost.

A meazly crowd showed up for the Sunday arvo game at the Allianz Stadium, Moore Park

With Luke - the newest member of the Philosophy & Religious Studies Department; a rugby player who hails from Trinity School in Croydon. What are the chances?

Pregnancy Update

Gill is now coming up to 34 weeks pregnant - so we're very much at the business end of things now. We had our first antenatal class last weekend (a full five hours of labour; shorter and less painful than the real thing) and have our second this Saturday.

Here's a photo from our most recent scan last week; it's not the greatest (the umbilical chord gets in the way a bit), but she's definitely looking a bit cuter... a button nose rather than a big Case one!
