Waratahs & Wallabies

Two weeks after seeing the NSW Waratahs beat the Canterbury Crusaders with the virtually the last kick of the game in the final of the Super XV Rugby Competition (in the two squads respectively were 11 Wallabies and 13 All Blacks), last night we saw Australia and New Zealand play out a tense 12-12 draw at a very wet ANZ Stadium - which was Pete's birthday present.  I would like to be able to say that rugby was the winner, but really it was the referee. The All Blacks showed why they've won 18 tests on the bounce, but at least Australia has brought a halt to that run - and could (and probably should) have won the match, given the chances they generated and the territory and possession they had in the second half.

68 000 turned out for the first Bledisloe Cup game of 2014 - the return leg is next week in Auckland
