Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree and Port Douglas

Some more photos from our trip....

Sunset over Cape Tribulation, from Port Douglas

Daintree Rainforest boardwalk. We hired a car and drove north for about an hour or so in to the rainforest. We went as far as the sealed road goes, after which it's 4WD only to Cooktown and the tip of the Cape York peninsula. We had hoped to see a cassowary, which is such a weird looking bird (and dumb) that they should probably have become extinct a few millennia ago.

We hired a pontoon boat for a few hours to cruise the Port Douglas creek to check out the crocs, fish and get eaten alive by sandflies. No mossie bites, but only because they are so huge up there that you can see them coming from ten metres away.

 All over it

The food in Port is sensational. One of several amazing dishes we enjoyed!
For anyone going, here is our top three, in rank order:
1. Watergate  - steak with fig jam; awesome! Fantastic service and ambiance
2. Bucci  - Italian, on Macrossan St. Best chocolate dessert ever!
3. Salsa  - view across the water and great for lunch. Fresh seafood was beautiful.
