On Tuesday night Gill and I went to see Regina Spektor at the Opera House, along with Meg, Sarah and her sister, and Michael. I wasn't particularly familiar with her music beforehand, other than hearing from others that she's pretty good. In fact, she was incredible in concert.
The acoustics of the Concert Hall are unforgiving, so you can hear every detail and there is no margin of error; thankfully, Regina Spektor is astonishingly talented. She sang and played the piano, with a three-piece band of drums, cello and keyboard that orchestrated her music beautifully. On several of the songs you can here both the Russian influence of her origins, and the New York sounds of where she now lives.

Finally, just in case you're not familar with Regina Spektor, here is one of more well-known songs - "Samson" - which she played as an encore in her concert; as beautiful and moving as her music gets.
