Brookesey in Sydney

Brookesey has been on a teaching exchange in Term 4 with a school in Melbourne, so following the end of term he flew up to Sydney for a few days. Brookesey was last out here in Easter 2010, when we went to Melbourne and drove the Great Ocean Road.

The day after the ABCC we went to the 'Big Bash' Twenty20 cricket, to see the Sydney Sixers thrashed by the Perth Scorchers on a humid evening at the SCG. The Sixers were unbeaten in twelve outings, so it was not unreasonable to expect a decent performance from the many big names, including Brett Lee and captain Brad Haddin. But Simon Katich's side,  featuring Hercelle Gibbs of the Proteas, outplayed them in every department. Still, it was a pleasant way to have a beer or two.

On Monday we walked part of the Manly Scenic Walkway, from Fairlight to Dobroyd Head; a good two hour walk along the shoreline and up through bushland. The fairly average weather meant it was decent for walking.
I think this may be a Chinese naval vessel, as they docked in Sydney this week on the way back to China from anti-pirate operations in the Gulf of Aden.

With better weather on Tuesday, Gill and I took Brookesey to the start of the South Coast, about 1.15mins from home.
