Given that I clearly have too much time on my hands at the moment, and to avoid doing the various and boring jobs I should be doing, here's a quick review of my year, via the blog for the past year....
2012 began with the Sydney New Year's Test at the SCG featuring centuries from Clarke and Ponting and one or VBs. One of my favourite images from January was this photo, taken in Birdsville, western Queensland:
We enjoyed a relaxing and winery packed holiday in the Hunter Valley, where we spent Gill's birthday. The highlight of the month, though, was the Tamworth Country Music Festival which I cannot wait to go to again, when it fits with school holidays. The 'high-point' was the amateur arborism atop a cherry picker.
Back at school in February, the rugby coaching course in Melbourne was a great learning experience. No doubt in 2013 we will be returning to the NSW Wine Festival in Hyde Park; from what I remember, I enjoyed it this year.
A couple of rites of passage at the end of March featured Bryce and Ethan's christening and Ben (Gill's second cousin) and Di's wedding in Tamworth, followed by the recovery breakfast on my birthday.
April saw my Dad and Sally's first visit to Australia; featuring a trip to the Sydney beaches, the Southern Higlands with Gill's parents, and also to the Blue Mountains and Tycho's orchard.
Autumn is the busiest time of year at work, so there were posts on education and politics, and the Year 12 Retreat. The Queen's Birthday weekend in June involved a great little trip to Mudgee. The highlight of the winter months was the International Boys' Schools Coalition Conference in Melbourne, where I co-presented a workshop, and the awesome mini-break we tacked on the end to get our fix of Melbourne food and lifestyle!
In August we moved to Abbotsford- a top floor, two bed apartment with water and city views in a quiet suburb in the inner-west. Then there was 'The Question' in September, which nudged a boulder which is picking up momentum with every passing week as it hurtles towards next spring. The Half-Life Party began our trip to England, followed by a tour of London and a trip to Dorset, prior to Sam and Tom's Big Day.
Florence and Tuscany were the highlights of our Italy trip on the way home. Back to work in spring saw an impromtu trip to Cockatoo Island, with the ABCC marking the start of the festive season, and Brookesey's visit to Sydney, featuring a day trip to the top of the South Coast.

It's been a relaxing week at home, featuring the odd glass (bottle?) of wine and an assignment for my diploma that's due early in the new year, whilst Gill has watched all six seasons of Sex and the City, back to back, for three days. Thankfully, I have earphones.
On Christmas Eve we are heading to Castle Burke (aka Meg and Pete's), and then it's back home for New Year's Eve, before driving down to Jervis Bay for a few days.
