It's been a very busy last couple of weeks - the end of the school year is nigh, so it has been an exam marking, report writing fest. We finish for the summer this week, with three staff days next week before the long break.
Last weekend was spent with Gill's family; Friday night we went to a reunion of the group who went to Turkey and Greece (mostly teachers who are friends of her parents). The beautiful weather on Saturday enabled us to spend a couple of hours at Harbord, on the northern beaches - the water was cold but great to go for a swim off the rocks. In the evening we went to her cousin's 21st, which was in a warehouse in Chinatown, after going to a 'cook-it-yourself' Korean restaurant with her family. I managed to get back in time to Skype my Dad who turned 60 on Saturday, before getting up early and going for Pub-Cha with Gill's parents at the Annandale Hotel - amazing Chinese food (Yum-Cha) served as a hangover cure along with a beer or two. Which, with England in the process of breaking records at the Gabba on the rv screen, was excellent - especially given the ribbing I had received after Day 2. Strangely, all the Aussies went very quiet and didn't want to talk about cricket anymore; the afternoon involved drinks with some of Gill's girlfriends at the Town Hall in Balmain.
Last night I met up with Sian and Andy (who is here for his conference and who has brought incessant rain with him from the UK). So all in all I'm pretty exhausted....
Question: How do you turn sixty. Do you grab it by surprise and turn it on it's back; do you ignore it and jump on it as it goes by? or to you turn it around so that it goes backwards. The latter I find works best after a number of real ales. DCI
