Whilst I know I have been accused of being a little obsessed with the weather, here is a picture taken about 150 miles west of Sydney earlier today. Torrential overnight rain 50 miles south west of Sydney led to a creek bursting its banks and a dam wall was threatened - residents were given a one hour warning to flee their homes. None of this in Sydney, except for gale force winds and an unseasonably cold day time temperature of 14 degrees. The likely culprit for the extreme weather in the west of the state (and also Victoria and Queensland) is La Nina. All rather ironic that within months of NSW's desalination plant finally coming online the Sydney Catchment Authority reports dam levels at 58%.
