"The Sword in the Scone"

For my bibliophilic readers (I think that's the adjectival version of the word, but if not I'm sure I'll be corrected by a pedantic reader) - ABC Sydney's afternoon 'Drive' show is currently running a competition inviting listeners to submit classic book titles with one letter changed/added/taken away, that totally wrecks the title.

I have submitted several entries and have 2 that have made the shortlist on the website; so if you're interested in seeing it, or would like to submit some of your own, click here. My own favourite didn't make it - that famous collection of stories about medieval Kent and government revenue: The Canterbury Taxes.

The prize is 50 books which have been selected for Australia's annual "Get Reading Week".

Scientists from Canada have worked out the ultimate dance moves that women find most attractive; click here to see the computer simulation of the moves that won (and also the most unattractive dancing, too). Of course, if they'd spoken to me first I could have saved them the bother....

  1. I hope The Count of Monte Cristo counts as a classic.

  3. I've also submitted A Thousand Splendid Puns....

  4. The guy who presents the show is Richard Glover, so the one above could prove a winner. I prefer the story about the organ of a rich woman and its fight with her alcoholism: Lady Chatterley's Liver

  6. I submitted that one too, and was disappointed it didn't make the shortlist!
