If you're at all interested in the Australian federal election (which is going to be a very close call), The Chaser's Guide to Voting song (embedded above or click the link) really sums up the feeling here amongst most people. The one glimmer of light in the gloom is the fact that almost all Australians I have talked to have said this has been the most depressing election for many years; which reflects well on them as a nation. The choice between a Prime Minister who stabbed Kevin Rudd in the back (and has now promised him foreign affairs if they get back in) who leads a government that appears to have no principles other than holding on to power, versus Tony "climate change is utter crap" Abbott who has played the usual trick of claiming that the country is being overrun by asylum seekers and seems determined to drive Australia even further back in to the past.
The song is filmed outside the federal parliament in Canberra; Cheryl Kernot, for information, is the former leader of the (now irrelevant) Democrats who once held the balance of power as a genuine centrist party before they imploded. Beware the lyrics of the song if you are sensitive to bad language....
