'Roos Toasted

Here's my picture wot I drew on our new whiteboard. Although it wasn't me who labelled the stick figures.
Bertoni is opening for all the Australia and Italy matches - the Socceroos were on at 4am local time, though given the result I was glad of my decision to stay in bed. The World Cup is surprisingly big here - although things may be quietening down given the result of the early hours of Sunday morning.

Yesterday was a public holiday for the Queen's Birthday (yes it's ridiculous - most Aussies think so too). So I sampled breakfast and coffee at the cafe on the corner of the road, Acetra, which only opened last week. The Campos coffee was fantastic. I had brioche French toast with maple syrup, mascapone, fresh strawberries and almonds. It tastes as good as it looks....

Last night I took a ferry in to Circular Quay and went to The Rocks - there are night markets on at the moment, with lots of hawker food stalls; the smell of mulled wine and the crisp winter air gave it a distinctly Christmas feeling!

Adrian arrives tomorrow on his trip from Galway (he's been down in Melbourne for the last few days visiting Angus) so I'm looking forward to seeing him. Doubtless he will be 'guest blogging' at some point over the weekend. For now it's the evening kick off - NZ vs Slovakia. I don't think it's going to be setting the World Cup alight, somehow... Tomorrow night it's State of Origin II (NSW v QLD in the Rugby League), with Australia v England on Saturday in Union, plus the World Cup. My life would be busy even without the huge amount of work I have on at the moment....
