With a couple of hot sunny days recently, I've taken the opportunity to go to the beach. I have my first departmental meeting in 10 days time and have plenty of reading to get through, which I might as well do at the beach when the weather is good. Obviously with the sun so strong at this time of year I wore a hat and studiously applied plenty of factor 30 sunscreen to everywhere I could reach; which means I have a good tan and no sunburn.... except for a painful rectangular patch in the middle of my back. Tomorrow is forecast to be the last day of sunshine for about a week, so I intend to make the most of it, although this time I'll wear my rash vest. The alternative would be to approach some random person on the beach and ask them to apply some for me which I'm not quite prepared to do. Although....
