Six Months

It's now six months since I arrived in Sydney, since which I've discovered....

  • The meaning of the word 'bogan'
  • The need to always have a bottle of suncream handy in the summer
  •  It was illegal for a woman to buy a beer in a public bar until 1970
  • That single paned glass is rubbish
  • That having a can of Mortein in the house is essential to avoid being overrun with crawly things
  • There is the world of difference between good and bad coffee
  • That it's possible to get take away food that's cheap and healthy
  • That NRL is currently a better spectator sport than rugby union
  • The correct response to "How y'going?" is "yeah good"
  • Portugese tarts
  • Sushi
  • The Anzac Bridge is just as cool as the Harbour Bridge (and is the only bridge in the world that's in one country but which bears the flags of two)
  • To find at least one cockroach, spider, lizard or large flying insect in the house each day in summer
