A quiet couple of days at the end of the week have enabled me to get on with beginning the highly stressful task of sorting out the paperwork and form filling for next year. I've also been in to the city to register with Medicare, which is the first time I've been in to the shopping areas since the Christmas decking came out. It doesn't stop being weird.
Yesterday Polly told me she's going to be joining a touch rugby team at work and has never played before, so she asked if I wanted to "go to the park and chuck a football around" (i.e. rugby ball) in the afternoon, which, frankly, left me rather speechless, but it was good fun.
Looking forward to a big day of rugby watching on Sunday - I'm recording the autumn internationals on Saturday, and will see them the following morning - England v Australia followed by Wales v New Zealand; and then it's England v New Zealand in Rugby League (Four Nations). Unfortunately France v Australia is on at the same time as the Rugby Union, so I can't record both, which is a shame as I'd like to see it as I'm familiar with the Australian NRL players.
All eyes will be on the Eng-Aus RU game though - the Wallabies have had a fairly bad press here, finishing bottom of the Tri Nations and they've not won the Bledisloe Cup (vs NZ) for several years now, so they will be desperate to beat England. It's a shame I can't see it live but a 1.30am start is a bit late. In between the rugby on Sunday morning I also hope to have a live video-link up with Gunno's annual fireworks party.
Update: the sandals won the vote, so I have been wearing them with pride this week. I also have blisters from the thongs so my feet are recovering....
