I'm enjoying a fairly lazy Saturday - last night I went to the leaving drinks for Linda, who used to work with Ludo (and who I've met before) - she's moving to Townsville, which is the other end of the country. It was a corporate do in a city bar, but it was a good night, not least because for some reason pale ale was half price - though I felt it a bit this morning. I met up with Sian for lunch in Balmain and had a good catch up as she's been really busy at work lately and I've not seen her for ages. So now I'm back home and just chilling out - it's 32 degrees outside and it's lovely and cool inside; with a bit of luck some storms will roll over the harbour and the hills to the north a little later, and I'll get a good view from the balcony.

I feel a bit in limbo at the moment - with all my studies now finished and my visa and graduate diploma in education applications now submitted. I've not had much childcare work lately, and, once the visa is granted, I won't be able to do that anyway as I will not be allowed to work for anyone except my new school. Kit leaves for Europe a week on Monday for two months, so to stop myself going nuts I'm going to need to strike a balance which involves keeping busy without breaking the bank. Hopefully I can do lots of school preparation work, read plenty of books and catch up on lots of films I've been meaning to see. I'm sure that once I start teaching again I will wish I had this amount of spare time, but right now I'd far rather be working!
