First 100 Days

Well I have now finished at uni. I had my final two tutorials yesterday. In my Australia's Asian Context course, we received our essays back - mine was on Australian/US perceptions of Japan and the role they played in the way in the Pacific War. Stuart, the tutor - who is a really nice bloke - gave short interviews with each student to discuss the essay, give advice on areas to improve etc. When it was my turn I could see it might be a bit awkward... I scored 83% - the marks I dropped were mainly due to not being able to find enough source material on pre-war attitudes, which I was aware of. Anyway, I decided to save him the embarrassment of him giving me advice I didn't want/need, I told him how much I enjoyed the course - to which he said "You couldn't care less about the marks could you? You just enjoy learning stuff". Well, er, yes.

I went for a few drinks at the Town Hall in Balmain with Polly which was fun. I'm feeling under the weather today - a bit of a cold and possibly a bit of hayfever too.

So it's been 100 days. Time for a review....

Good stuff:
Got a job for the new year
Completed 4 uni courses and 1 distance learning course
Appeared on national tv (ok, I was in the audience...)
Completed a half marathon
Been to a theatre premiere and a celebrity after party
Not developed upward inflexion
Have not started saying "Aww, yeah, no...."
Seen Germaine Greer, Christopher Hitchins et al at the Opera House
Started eating sushi
Seen an AFL game
Seen a Bledisloe Cup game at the ANZ Stadium
Been to the Southern Highlands

Not so good stuff:
Had to take up drinking lager
Increased usage of "mate"
Obtained an addiction to coffee and known by name at Bertoni's
Spotted the first grey hairs on my temples
Started listening to Crowded House

I'm not sure how much these last two are due to being in Australia and how much they have to do with being mid 30s. If I start listening to Phil Collins I'll know it's the latter....
