Friday night cricket

Another crazy Friday night of cricket, watching the first day at Headingley. Had two interesting tutorials today; the first on nineteenth and twenteenth century Australian masculinist drinking culture, social reforms and the emancipation of women (women couldn't buy a drink in a public bar here until 1965....); and one on orientalism and the romanticisation of the east by Europeans in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. I spent the afternoon researching one of my elective essays - I've chosen to do the rise of Islamism in Pakistan in the last 30 years.

The comments page must be broken as none of the dozens of suggestions you've been sending for my weekend got through (?). So instead I'm going to work tomorrow, do a 10k run on Sunday and go to the Sydney Football Stadium to see the Tigers take on the Sydney City Roosters on Sunday afternoon, in a big end of season clash; if we win we may just sneak in to the play offs....
