The afternoon was spent watching the netball (Perth Vixens vs Adelaide Thunderbirds, if you're interested) ... I'm not sure it's entirely accurate to say it was the netball we were watching, though. There was also the Boks v All Blacks, and local team the Tigers vs Canberra in League, which I'm really getting in to. Oh, and I did some work too. So nothing very exciting - tomorrow is my first day of lectures, so hopefully I'll have something a little less dull to write about. But there's no guarantee.

Day Ten - Rain
Today has been the first overcast day since I've been here; and it's been raining all evening. So you can all revel in the fact that it's warmer and sunnier in the UK today. Kit and I were planning to go to Palm Beach this morning, a huge ocean bay up the coast (it happens to be where Home and Away is filmed) but decided against it due to the weather. Instead we took a stroll in to the village and went to Bertoli's for coffee. It's a small Italian family-run cafe which does arguably the best coffee in the city. It's always packed with customers, and yet the staff always have time for a chat and pride themselves on remembering how the regulars like their coffee. Seating is on up turned milk crates with little cushions, which is perfect for watching the world go by.

If the cover work at a local school doesn't work out, you could always do some writing for Lonely Planet. Or, alternatively, become the Marketing Director for Bertoli's.
ReplyDeleteIf day 11 ends up in Bertoli's I'm done with this.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I'm surprised you've stuck with it this long, Andy.
ReplyDeleteHas this got any better yet?
ReplyDeleteNo. But if you click on 'Next Blog' at the top left of the page you get to see someone else's blog. I got a nice young Portuguese woman who's playing in an orchestra.
ReplyDeleteRight.
ReplyDeleteI've no problem with the whole Statler and Waldorf routine - but it's pretty low that the two of you (assuming it is two of you) are hiding behind anonymity.
Although Andy is blatantly one of you and I have my suspicions about the other.
Hold on. You the one who asked, "Who goes for a coffee?!". Now you're spending every day doing it, when you're not ogling netball players.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to email you about Skype (I don't know how to do it). But only if you promise that you wear a shirt, tie and boxers, as per your interview.
I can drink coffee and ogle netball players. It's called multi-tasking. And thanks for your message telling me about the email you're going to send. Useful.
