This morning Kit and I drove down to Iron Cove Bay to do the 'Bay Run' (although Kit walked it), which is a 7km loop around the bay; it's in the south west of the Harbour. It was a beautiful winter morning - chilly but perfect for running, with not a cloud in the sky. It seemed like half of the western suburbs were out walking, jogging or running the route. I ran past one woman running whilst pushing a pram, and then coming the other way was a huge bloke (looked like a second row) running at some speed the other way, also pushing a pram. It's not something you see much in England.
The path hugs the waterside all the way around, going past quiet suburban streets, rowing clubs and parks; there were kids no older than 8 playing in organised soccer games, whilst the adults either watched or gathered around the sausages sizzling on the bbq.
When I got back to the car park I made use of the 'Excersite' - an outdoor exercise area made of wood and metal for press up, pull ups, dips, sit ups etc, complete with signed instructions to guide you through your workout.
So after our healthy start to the day we drove up to Rozelle, the suburb next to Balmain for a coffee and bacon and egg rolls out in the sunshine whilst reading the paper and watching the world go by (it was pretty warm by this point!); we then went to the grocers to pick up veg and fruit for dinner and to make smoothies this afternoon. The quality of the fruit and veg is so much better than the supermarkets, so I'll be making regular trips up there, I think.
Am now back home finishing the drafts to some letters to schools here, in an attempt to get some part time work and that crucial foot in the door.
I need to have a very cheap few days, so I will settle down in front of the tv later for back to back rugby, league and AFL which runs from 2pm in to the evening.... and maybe a stubbie or two.
