Surrealism and Stuff

'The Search for Happiness'

Last Friday morning, a group of Newington students and a few staff, all dressed in top hats and suits and carrying telescopes, posed for a series of photos taken by Adelaide surrealist artist Andrew Baines at Coogee Beach. The photo above made one of the 'pictures of the day' in the UK Daily Telegraph and was also in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Our Year 9 Philosophy and Religious Studies course has a unit entitled 'What is the Good Life?', so the opportunity to collaborate with a prominent Australian artist on this theme was too good to pass up. Unfortunately I was in Melbourne last weekend on an IB Theory of Knowledge course and couldn't take part.


Turns out that Maeve likes aeroplanes... plenty of people to smile at!
