Gillian and I walked from Taronga Zoo to Balmoral, a 7 km walk through the Sydney Harbour National Park. It was a beautiful, sunny day in Sydney - and although the temperature hit 33 degrees by mid afternoon, much of the walk was mercifully shaded. Our walk took in secluded, hidden beaches, historic military sites, stunning native flora and majestic panoramas of Sydney harbour; as well as two bush turkeys, two snakes, three aggressive kookaburras and countless dragons....

Some of the many Eastern Australian Dragons we saw, plus two hungry kookaburras at Georges Head (we didn't manage to get a shot of either of the two snakes). As we were having lunch at Georges Head, one of the kookaburras dive-bombed Gill and grabbed a piece of apple out of her hand; there followed a ten minute stand-off (pictured above).
Well earned beer and nibbles at the Beach House, Balmoral
