Hunter Valley Wine Stop

The Hunter Valley wine region is a couple of hours north of Sydney and an ideal (or at least, a very enticing) stopover on the road north. So we met up with Gill's parents for some winetasting for an evening. Blueberry Hill, Lovedale and - definitely the pick of them - Calais, where we bought some fabulous reds. We've also discovered that, provided it is only very lightly oaked, chardonnay is not all that bad. A little bit like with the way one's attitude to Phil Collins becomes less negative over the years, I feel this may be another sign of ageing....

Wayne inspects oils and balsamic vinegars at Lovedale winery; the fig and vanilla balsamic was friggin' good.

Another amazing dessert...
