Blue Mountains & Mudgee

Yesterday Sam, Tom, Gill and I drove the four hour trip to Mudgee in central NSW via Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. Below is a photo of the famous 'Three Sisters' - three women turned to stone, according to the local Aboriginal Dreaming story, by a medicine man in order to save them from an impending battle - his death in the battle prevented them being turned back again afterwards.

We're staying in a beautiful old 19th century house that is owned by the descendent of the first doctor in Mudgee. The region is famous for its wineries.... which, of course, is no coincidence.... We started the day with a game of tennis; Tom was very kind with his serves, which probably contributed to the victory of the Case sibilings 7-6.

The best photo would have been one in a car park in Katoomba (which, incidentally, was a chilly 13 degrees). Two bogans (i.e. 'chavs') pulled up in their flashy new ute, music blaring and trying to look cool. They parked up, got out the ute....... and then grabbed two little scooters from the back and skated up the road like a pair of 8 year olds. Which is pretty much what they were. If only I had the camera at the ready.....
