Bacchic Biking

So today we went wine tasting in the shadow of the Andes..... (ok, not a lot of shadow... but they're over there....)

And the best way to do it, is of course, on bikes!

I had naively assumed that there would be spitting because, obviously, you can't have inebriated foreign tourists riding around on bikes. Clearly I hadn't appreciated the Argentine approach to wine tasting....

So we started out at the 'Museum of Wine', which was quite clearly just another winery in disguise....

Hmm... soft tannins, a hint of cherry and tobacco which pushes through the palette...

.... before moving on to a the Absinthe and Chocolate Liquer Factory, that also produced amazing jams...

The Blueberry liquer had a smooth finish as I recall....

After the shots, we thought it was definitely time for lunch. So where better to take a break than the Speciality Beer Brewery?

Having not actually drunk much wine, it seemed only appropriate to go to a proper winery to hear about how they make the wine (er.... not really) and try some of their wine (oh yes). So it was Malbec, Merlot, Cab Sav, Syrah..... and lots of swirling, sniffing, pretending to know what we were doing and, obviously, 'tasting'.

By around 5pm, I was, of course, perfectly fine to cycle back....
