The photos don´t quite do justice to the sheer scale of the waterfalls at Iguazu, here in the northeast corner of Argentina, at the border with Brazil and Paraguay. Nor to the roar of millions of gallons of water plumetting down in to the river below, sending up spray and clouds of water punctuated by rainbows, whilst birds of prey circle overhead and butterflies weave in and out of the rainforest leaves. It´s all pretty impressive really. Andy and I had several long debates about how close we thought we could successfully traverse the river upstream of the falls without being dragged down; and how much money we would be prepared to do it for.
The place is teeming with wildlife; coatis (rodenty anteater type things), birds, lizards, and tourists. We went on a boat that, we thought, went close to the falls. It actually went in to them, which was fairly exhilirating, if rather wet. So here´s just a small selection of photos of the day. Now it´s time for.... steak and red wine. For a change.
Looks fantastic - as do you and Andrew. Lovely to keep in touch with your journey.
