Buenos Dias Buenos Aires!

So Andy and I are now on Day 3 of our intensive two week quest to get gout - 3 steaks and about 6 bottles of red wine so far. I´m not sure whether we can maintain this frenetic pace. Anyway, we like it here. It´s a lovely city - lots of parks, grand old colonial style buildings, warm sunny weather and the widest street I have ever seen. In fact, the wide boulevards give it an (appropriately) airy feel. It´s a French-style city, populated by Italians who speak Spanish. My Spanish is improving. So far I can say:
Pabla inglesi?
dos cervezas por favor
gracias
banos

Which is all you need, really.

We´re staying in an old hotel right in the heart of the old part of the city, and have spent the last couple of days strolling the streets and parks, soaking up the atmosphere - and then sweating it out in the Finnish bath and spa in the hotel.

Below is a selection of photos from the last few days, including the Plaza de Mayo and the building (in pink) featured in Evita which is a focal point of the city, some very loud and excited football fans, the old port and the Atlantic Ocean (we end our trip at the Pacific). We had one minor crisis - my card was swallowed by an ATM and Andy´s didn´t work, but following a few phone calls we´ve managed to deal with that. Great to see Andy of course - it´s quite weird in that it didn´t seem like 14 months since I had last seen him. Which, in a sense, it isn´t; given that we speak on Skype very often. Still, there´s been plenty of harpinga on about stuff, as you´d expect.

Tomorrow we fly up to the Brazilian border to see the spectacular Iguazu Falls, then back here before heading west.
