Last night Kit, Jen, Celine (the French assistante at King's) and I went to see the The Cat Empire at the Horden Pavilion; I'm not sure if anyone in the UK has heard of them as they're an Aussie band, but they're quite big here, certainly on stations like Triple J (which is kinda like X FM in London); their debut single in 2003, "Hello", is quite well known. Wikipedia describes their music as 'a fusion between jazz, ska, funk and rock with heavy latin influences'. Click here to listen to "Fishies", which is my favourite track of theirs - and a great one to dance to! The gig was awesome. I bumped in to a couple of my Year 9 boys, who were presumably allowed to go to the gig as it wasn't in fact a school night; for some reason we have a long weekend (though it's not a public holiday), so today I will get on my my trial HSC marking and am going to meet Sian for lunch in Ultimo.
