I managed to knock off the essay in a day, which meant today I could.... go to the beach! I know, it's a tough life. Actually, the weather is unseasonably good at the moment - 24 degrees and sunny, so I went to Coogee for the afternoon, and when it cooled down a little I ran to Bronte and back (which is around 8km). Pretty good surf today - waves at around 7-10ft, clean with serious dump, but no rip, so I could get completely pummled in the water and not die. Although I heard that last weekend's Bronte to Tamarama swim was called off when some sharks started circling the swimmers! Hehehe, I would like to have seen that. What do you do if that happens? Panic, surely? There was a shark that swam into Shelly Beach at Manly a few months back. Someone walked in to the water and punched it squarely on the nose. The shark got the message. Still, it's been years since an actual shark attack on a swimmer at one of the city's ocean beaches. Far more dangerous out here are all the jellyfish, spiders, koalas (don't believe their very effective PR, they're nastly little things), snakes, drunken bogans - and of course, the deadly, unpredicatable and little known drop bears.
