The most important card in my wallet...
It's Friday night - and it's Round 1 of the 2010 NRL Season - back to back rugby this evening, tomorrow, Sunday and Monday - Wests Tigers (formerly known as the Balmain Tigers) kick off their campaign on Monday against Manley Sea Eagles at the Sydney Football Stadium. Kit and I would have gone, but he has a school commitment so I'll watch it at home. We're having an in-house tipping competition, which is frankly a lottery - at least to start with as it's pretty tough to call without spending hours watching the games (come to think of it...). Yesterday I was stood outside the Riverview Pub on my road, and who walked past me with his wife and two kids but Lote Tiquiri - the high profile signing for the Tigers (who was previously playing with the Leicester Tigers in England, former Wallabies winger). He lives about 3 doors down from me. I couldn't decide whether to watch the NRL this evening or the Super 14s (union) as the Warratahs were playing at the same time. Fortunately the Town Hall pub up the road had both games on adjacent tvs.
Ah, the return of the rugby season..... whatever else happens (not a lot, probably, given my social life) I can fall back on watching rugby on Friday and Saturday nights.
The domestic rugby union season starts in about 3 weeks - I will probably start in about 5 weeks - I'm away on school camp in a couple of weeks time, then it's Easter and Brookesey is here and I'm going down to Victoria, plus I have two assignments for my DipEd to complete.
And the 2010 AFL season hasn't even started yet......
