Just been out for dinner in Newtown with Sian and co; it's been a while since I've been out in Newtown - it's a bit grungey and alternative but not in a seedy way, like Kings Cross. It's also very popular with lesbians (gays presumably prefer the Cross) which is, well, interesting. I like driving to Newtown as it takes me close to the two houses I lived in 11 years ago, and also past the hotel I stayed in when I was here on rugby tour in '96.

I had New Parents' Evening at school yesterday - I have two new boys in my Year 9 Mentor group, so it was good to meet the parents and get to know them a bit. With all the really positive changes at Newington since the arrival of the Head last year there are lots more new boys coming in to the school and its popularity is clearly on the rise.

The weather is pretty close to optimal again - lowest temperature at night is about 19 and it gets up to 27-29 in the day in the sunshine, but without the oppressive humidity.
