On Sunday I finally got around to kayaking on the harbour; it was seriously scorchio so we started fairly early to avoid the heat of the day. I was expecting to pay a deposit (no) or be given some instruction about where/where not to go (no chance). This only became an issue when I realised about 100m from shore that the kayak place on the beach was adjacent to the sea plane landing/take off area. Fortunately the regular arrivals and departures where able to dodge the odd kayak in the water. We paddled out to Shark Island, which is in the middle of the harbour and one of the last islands before you reach the open ocean. Unbelievably, there was only two other peopl there. The views, as you can see below were not bad at all.
After returning for brunch we went to Bronte - like all the ocean beaches it was packed, but after a cooling dip in the ocean baths I went in the surf which was awesome - I still haven't got the hang of it, being wiped out several times and finding myself washed up on the beach having been through 'the washing machine' and being all very English about it ("sorry, sorry"). At least I wasn't the only one! After a smoothie and a drive up past The Gap -
.....it was down to Doyle's at Watson's Bay for take away fish and chips on the beach at sunset. Not a bad way to end a Sunday.....
Have you had a chance to go to Spider Forest or Snake Pit yet?
