I went for a walk to the shops in the early evening sun which was lovely. Not something I can say often in London. Weeks ago Kit booked tickets for the theatre this evening, so we're walking down to the bay and getting the ferry in to the city in a few minutes....

Day Five - Homework
Depsite the gloriously sunny weather (up to 22 degrees today... still not a cloud in the sky.. all very good for winter) I've been stuck in doors working all day. Having done nothing on my distance learning course for three weeks I'm trying to play catch up, which I've pretty much managed to do in about 6 hours. The module I'm studying is on the founding of the colony of NSW and its first 50 years or so. It's interesting stuff. Today I've been reading about the creation of the economy, which they achieved without a treasury, and the fact that the colony was in effect the first capitalist economy. I'm now up to the so-called Rum Rebellion against Governor Bligh in 1808, of Mutiny on the Bounty fame. To be rebelled against at sea and then on land by a totally different bunch of people, when the penalty of failure is death, is some achievement. But then he was a total arse.
