Swanning around Sydney

For their second day in Sydney - also gloriously sunny - we took DCI and Sally on a leisurely walk around the Opera House, Botanic Gardens and Hyde Park before heading to the SCG to see the Sydney Swans play the Fremantle Dockers in the AFL (Aussie Rules Football). We booked seats high up in the Victor Trumper Stand, so we were safely in the shade and benefited from a fantastic view of the pitch; ideal for AFL which, according to those who know about such matters, has to be seen live to be truly appreciated.

It was an entertaining game with the Swans storming in to an early lead in the first quarter, which, despite a fightback by 'Freo' in the second half, the Swans never relinquished, running out winners 14.10 (94) v 12.9 (81). After the footy we headed to The Rocks for a drink at The Australian Hotel and then to the Lord Nelson Brewery for dinner.
